yep, i thought so.
how many times have you seen a touring bike loaded up with way to much gear lol. a few extra bucks spent on some good/lightweight gear can go along way to a better ride. |
I always thought the exact same thing when I see the bikes on advrider loaded with hundreds of pounds of gear... how do backpackers manage to go for a week with only 30 or so pounds! This answers a lot of it and you're right, you can make your ride much more enjoyable with some good quality lightweight gear. Even some of the stoves you can get will burn gas that you can siphon from your bike if necessary!

It's not the excuse but people tend to overpack 'cause they don't need to carry it!!
When they go backpcking they pile up their stuff and see that it won't fit... so they skim, then fit it into the bag and then realise that they can't lift it!!! On the bike as long as they can tie it somehow somewhere, they keep adding on...and leave. They find too late that it's too heavy when they drop their machine... Been there done that!!!! |
