Wife and I are considering RSFR mid to late August 2017. New England Area.. Carolinas whatever. Resume trip 2018 early summer (maybe spring) destined New Orleans. 2019 will be across to Cali. Mostly campgrounds and tentspace when possible. Storage unit will be a bit pricey (50usd/month) but...
I haven't been on this trail before, considering an early start tomorrow morning and head out there from St. John's, back to town after.
Maybe an option to take the bikes to the Powderhorn start in the truck, or may just ride the whole thing.
Anyone interested?
It involved an attempted tow, with Bill's XR650R rear tire (terraflex) digging a trench in the gravel.
I was pretty much up to the seat at that point, had to just tip it into the mud to break the suction and drag it out.
Had to do the same a few weeks ago.
I've gone from Foxtrap to the Goulds through the woods/farm roads... I wouldn't recommend taking the t-railway through seal cove/upper gullies, etc. Just go on the CBS hwy from holyrood to foxtrap then you can go up to the end of the access road and make your way across. Cant remember exactly...
A little off topic but, It looks like if you keep going on that you could go to placentia junction and probably across the dirt road to colinet, sound right?
3 of us did it last weekend... my gps recorded the following:
Paradise Tim Hortons - Outer Ring - CBS Bypass Road to Seal Cove - Pick up T-Railway in Holyrood - to Tim Hortons in Whitbourne on the TCH:
79.76 KM (including the outer ring + cbs bypass!)
2H 43M 56S
That included a stop for Gas...
I did salmon fest last year, camper at red cliff.. It was great fun.
Bit of a pain with the water situation but we managed to have a good time.
I'll be going again if the lineup is half decent.
Trust me, it's half... she owns half the house and half the bike, along with half of everything else...
On the bright side, you own half of the cleaning products too!!!
So that's one possibility, anyone know of anything on the avalon, say Brigus or Brigus Junction area?
I know there's a sort of unofficial campground out the highway by the chicken place but I heard it gets a bit wild and there are a fair few camper breakins.
