With a fresh 10 cm sitting on the patio deck, more to fall and cloudy conditions to Gander…..I am out for scooting west for this one.

What's the Ride The Rock story?

My sister still speaks highly of you Chuck but it was a limited time offer because they retired and returned home a few years ago.

    Got a Beater?

My first Big Ruckus is my beater since the KLR went. It is now equipped with a pelican case instead of the milk crate but one can be attached on top of it for extra capacity. The salt has not helped the look of it and the bright parrot yellow/orange is faded but it fired up after a short winter...

help a first timer out - translab + NL summer 24

While checking the Marine Atlantic website for info on the Argentia run the berths on the Ala Suinu appear to be a cabin with a stacked berth with curtain enclosure but no shower. At 100 plus bucks for sleeping below a stranger with no chance of a wash…. I will pass.

Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

Hr Grace. The mast/spreaders in the background screamed boatyard at me. Liking Nicks new wheels. Norms as well.

help a first timer out - translab + NL summer 24

So far you seem to be on the right track. Never tried hotels so can’t make comment. Never had a problem leaving gear but a cable strap Might give you the confidence required. Yes on the flies. Minimal head net but a jacket is best. New ferry this year for Argentia, Ala Suinu, should have...

    R1300gs

I always like to look but rarely even check the price point as I assume it will be excessive. Anyone want to give me sticker shock???

    Weather!!

I am prepping for the eclipse now and IMHO the best site for viewing on this side of the island will be the fire tower on Ochre Hill in Terra Nova Park. My automatic welding helmet has an adjustment to shade 13 which is to standard but a pair of box goggles with a darker shade will be an easier...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

My JetBoil came with a French press extra. Used it once and found that it took more water to clean up the mess in the bottom of the pot/container than it did to make the coffee. I use a mesh pour over that can be fiddlesome and a PITA to clean up after as well but because I drink my coffee...

What at you watching during this long boring winter

There was no dealer here in the 1150 era but there was an R1100gs in the Goulds and another 1100 was brought in after by a Scotsman I knew from work. Real nice guy who used to ride a K100 in Europe before immigrating.

    Weather!!

The walk to work was a slog though sugar type snow but the return looks like it will be worse. No traffic on the roads though.

What at you watching during this long boring winter

I watched LWR with friends and though I had been riding BMW for years the GSA was an astonishing new concept to me. When I saw the possibilities that such a machine could do after years of street I wanted one but as a working man with a fresh divorce it was incomprehensible to me how it could...

What did you do to your bike today?

I had a powered lift that hung the bike. Sort of an engine hoist type deal. It worked well for me.You could take the forks and swingarm off if need be for winter maintenance but things did tend to move/swing around.

What did you do to your bike today?

Yes but maintained my cheap bastard status as it was over 40% off. Unable to get it to the shed though because of the snow depth but my girl has an in house garage to store it till spring. She is a sturdy girl and assisted in the offload.

What did you do to your bike today?

As I age I am finding less joy in the wrenching but Princess Auto had the Moto lift on sale again so today was the day to finally bite the bullet and pony up the cash to keep me off the floor. I have one at work so I know the benefits but this one is for the shed.

    Ice tires

My 02c. I rode too far into the season for many years. There were very few rides where studs would have been an asset. Most of my rides were on pavement with some snow covered spots. Ice covered ponds were not my thing. On pavement studs tend to elevate the tire from the contact patch making the...
