    USA to Canada Shipping

Shouldn’t have to pay duty on motorcycle parts, but “brokerage fees” are entirely up to the carrier.

    USA to Canada Shipping

I still get hit with taxes and brokerage fees from all you mentioned except USPS, taxes collected at the border for USPS, but shipping costs have gone through the roof.

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I like wood when possible. But I do carry a canister stove as backup.

    Multipurpose gear

I used to have a nalgene piss bottle for camping. Yes, it was clearly marked.

    Multipurpose gear

I got my first pair of real riding boots in 2022. I have always used military surplus combat boots for both on road and off road.

    OK. School me on cats...

I was reading about catless headers for the R9T. Removing it seems to really reduce heat in and around the exhaust. It also does provide a good measure of sound damping so it may be quite a bit louder.

    Happy New Year!!

Hoping this year is better. In 2023 I only put 4 K on the BMW, 1K on the scooter and 1 K on the XSR before it was wrote off. Health scares and working in the Arctic for a chunk of the riding season makes it tough to put in the miles.

What did you do to your bike today?

I prefer a sleeping blanket/quilt. You can add a lot of extra warmth using one of those emergency mylar reflective sheets on cold nights.

    Metiss motorcycle

Bimota has been doing something similar for a long time. Yamaha even did it with their GTS sport tourer in the 90s.

    Bike Tools

I had to go and buy a full set of torx bits and sockets after buying the R9T.

    New Bikes

Specs say 33.7” (855mm) with the optional low seat at 32.5” (825mm). I have a 29” inseam. The seat is fairly narrow in the front and the bike is pretty slim between the legs. It does feel like it carries its weight well. But I can only get my toes down on both sides and 32” with a narrow...

    New Bikes

Had a sit on the new Transalp at Honda One. Nice bike, the rider triangle felt good. If only I were taller. I also saw a new 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800 riding through Paradise this afternoon.

    Weather!!

I have never needed heated clothes for riding, just wind proof gear, but I do like my heated grips. 5°C is about my limit. The tires are starting to feel greasy any colder than that. It makes sense that keeping your core warm would help with the blood flow in the extremities, so a heated vest...

    The Tenere 700 thread

This could lead to an interesting side discussion. What kind of motorcycles stir your emotions? I get the boxer thing but didn’t until I got to take a long test ride one one. But I also like the rowdy yamaha triples, and the Suzuki 90° V-twins. And now, after riding my friend’s T120 and a...

    'New' Bike recommendations needed

Looks like the CB500F/X and the yamaha 700 FZ/MT/XSR700 series of bikes fall into that weight range. The SV650 is a little heavier but feels very slim and hides the extra weight well.

    'New' Bike recommendations needed

I loved the seat on mine. Bloody luxury next to a DR. the bike had fantastic range. I went +1 on the front sprocket for highway riding. I can’t remember it being buzzy, but I can’t remember what I had for supper last night either. My brother still has his in the green colour.
