EAT FRESH! (camp cooking thread)

I haven't noticed a thread for camp food so I thought I better start one.

I was having a chat with Gnu today and was horrified to learn that he was thinking of eating dehydrated food at the Dildo Run. ACK! Is there a barf smiley?

He asked me to write down some of the tips I was giving him for eating fresh while on the road. So here they are:

First thing is you need a cooler. It's probably better to have a soft sided one so you can stow it better once emptied. Mine says Molson Canadian on the side.

Second is you need one or two of those blue freeze things or the equivalent. It's best if you are able to fill any empty space in the cooler with these things.

If you have the freeze things and every food item is frozen prior to placing in the cooler you will have cool items for ~ two days.

Now you are able to turn to what fresh things to eat.
