hi. thanks for this great forum, it got me up to speed.

I'm doing the Translab + NL last week of july + first two of august. doing the loop clockwise (toronto-Translab-NL/StJohns-Toronto).

Based on my ride report readings, im chosing to focus my time on NL to be able to explore, and doing the TransLab section as efficiently/quickly as possible.

So here's what im a bit iffy on:

*While i dont mind camping, i do prefer a bed and a shower after a day of riding. Given this is high season, how required are reservations? What are my chances of finding motels on the way down from St Barbe?
*is late july/august still heavy black fly season?
*all of the departures from argentia all seem to be out of cabins. what are my chances of getting one last minute?
*im riding on a super tenere XT that will be loaded down, im not looking to do any serious off road, but would like to find hard packed/service roads if possible
*technical question about securing ones gear on their bike : I realize that there are a lot of things to do and see off the bike, So i wonder, how safe is it to leave my bike with all my gear (including helmet and boots (since i really cant hike in my riding boots) of on a side of a road or where other tourists may be parking?

thanks!
