I do quite a bit of 2up camping and while our compliment of gear is lightweight, it is difficult to pack light when 2 people are going on the road for a week. Taking into consideration the amount of gear required for temperature and weather fluctuations, the bike seems to be gaining weight with each passing camping season. On a week long ride last year we experienced a low of 4 degrees and snow to a high of 32.

I’ve been tracking the Vancouver Island company KipMoto for the past couple of years and their Adv Trailer has intrigued me for some time now. I’m not looking at this from a perspective of carrying more gear, rather a means of shedding some weight from the bike and keeping the heavier items out of the side cases.

I’ve been toying with the idea of ordering one of these for a few years now and figure 2024 may be the year to pull the trigger. Just my luck though, the trailer has been redesigned. I was really partial to the design of V1.0 and am not yet sure what to make of V2.0. I have been in touch with Joel and while there are some improvements from V.0, I understand that the redesign is to decrease production effort and enable more units to make it to market.

In BC, the trailer will not require a plate as it’s considered part of the bike as it is attached. Any thoughts on the requirement in NL or other provinces?
