Ride to Labrador last week

Murph wimped out on me for this last trip. The big lug thought the weather would be too cold and wet. He is getting soft.
I left work at 2:30 fri afternoon, on the road by 3:30. Landed in Triton at 8 or 9. First time down that way. My ST eats highway miles. I adore riding it. I did some cod fishing on Saturday and left Triton with 2bags of frozen cod tongues, cheeks and naps for the road. Stayed in a friends shed as it was "triton days" and there was no room in the house. I am getting used to sleeping in sheds! See photo of burnt cod goo on my exhaust pipe. I left triton at 10 am, booted it for St. barb ferry at 6:00. Got there at 3:31. Turns out the ferry was leaving at 3:30. My good looks and charm got me on that ferry. They actually had the doors closed on the ferry and opened them for little old me. The road through Gros Morne is all paved now. Wonderful riding. Lots of bridge work, but that just allows time for photos! Mid 20s driving up northern peninsula. Half way across to Labrador the fog rolled in. It was 12 degrees when I got off the ferry and so foggy I could hardly see some road signs. Camped at Pinware park. Cold, wet and more flies than I have ever dealt with. I struggled to start a fire with all soaking wet wood. I would not consider buying campfire wood. I scavenge. Thank God the last camper left me a small amount of fly repellant. GD black flies drove me out of Labrador. Next day I found Cormack and sir Richard Squires park. 16 kms of dirt road to the park and big falls. Tons of salmon jumping 1 or 2 feet away from me. It was tempting to reach out and grab one for supper. 31 degrees. Angst, all the gear all the time is my usual moto, however I had to ride in t shirt and jeans.( Girls dig scars) . Then off to burnside and St. Brendan's ferry. Perhaps I should start a ferry thread?? About 3300kms. Wicked ride.
