Trinity to Burgoynes Cove Off Road

GTTurbo and I rented a cabin in Goose Cove in anticipation of this years Soiree being held in Port Rexton. When the Soiree didn’t take place we decided to spend some time riding the old rail bed and resource roads nearby. It turned out to be a great weekend of riding, even if it started out a little damp. We followed the route that was laid out by Geoff and Lorenzo a few weeks prior, what a great route!

We picked up the rail bed at the old Trinity Loop Site which was literally a two minute ride from our cabin in Goose Cove. We stayed on the rail bed for an hour or so, crossing back and forth over Route 230 three times and then came out on the highway (Route 235) just down the road from The View Golf Course in Princeton. We stayed on the highway down to Southern Bay and then stopped at the Midway Irving to gas up. Just a few minutes past the Irving we picked up the Ocean Pond Resource road and made our way to the Ocean Pond Resource road extension and then onto the Burgoynes Cove Resource road which took us into Burgoynes Cove. Once in Burgoynes Cove we drove for a couple of minutes to the Wharf in Burgoynes Cove. By that time we were pretty cold with the RDF so we headed back to the cabin. Sunday turned out to be sunny and beautiful so we went back to the resource roads and spent the day exploring lots of smaller trails and roads that branched off of the resource roads and we revisited the rail bed to enjoy it now that it was dry.

It is a great area for exploring, we could have spent a week there and not travelled on all the dirt roads and trails. It is a great mix of not too technical trails, rail bed and dirt roads. It is perfectly suited to dirt bikes of all sizes and also the larger adventure bikes. All in all it was a great weekend! I’ll definitely be returning to that area for more riding. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say a big Thank You to Geoff, and everybody else on the site, who takes the time to post up detailed ride reports with maps or GPS tracks so that other people can enjoy the trails that they have explored. Rather than post up photos by themselves I have incorporated them with some GoPro footage. Make sure you select the HD or 720P versions. The video quality takes a pretty big hit when it gets transcoded by Vimeo or YouTube for web posting.
